Choose red ribbons—the colour of good fortune in Chinese culture—or incorporate techniques such as the Chinese lucky knot into your design. As its name suggests, this traditional knot symbolises luck and prosperity, adding a special touch to your razor.
Practical Tips for a DIY Cord
- Choosing the right material:
Various materials such as cotton thread, macramé cord, paracord, or leather straps are suitable for creating a custom cord. Ensure the material is water-resistant and durable to withstand daily use in the bathroom. For the cord to fit through the hole at the end of the handle, it should not exceed 3.5 mm in thickness. - Inspiration and tutorials:
Plattforms like YouTube offer plenty of tutorials for different knotting techniques and designs. Search for macramé or specific knots, such as the Chinese lucky knot, to create your custom cord step by step. - Recommended tools:Tools you might need: Besides your chosen cord material, you may require scissors, a measuring tape, and decorative elements such as beads. To make threading easier, we also recommend using a paperclip and adhesive tape.
Instructions for Replacing the Cord
Replacing the cord on the COMPANION is straightforward and requires just a few simple steps. Our sketch provides a step-by-step guide on how to remove the old cord and attach your custom design. Important! Before changing the cord, remove the blade from the razor or use the blade guard to avoid injury.
1. The COMPANION features a retractable mechanism at the end of the handle for the hanging cord. Pull out the end cap (it will retract automatically) and secure it with an unfolded paperclip (see diagram A). Then, carefully pull the existing cord out of the holder using the metal loop as a guide.
2. Cut your custom cord slightly longer than needed and reinforce one end with adhesive tape. This will make it easier to thread and secure.
3. Thread the reinforced end through the opening at the bottom of the handle.
4. Tie a firm knot at the end of the cord to ensure it doesn’t slip through the handle, and trim off any excess material.
5. Pull the knot into the cap, ensuring it is securely seated and doesn’t slip through the hole. Release the paperclip (A), and the spring mechanism will automatically pull the end cap back into place.
6. Your customised razor is now complete.
