80 Years of MÜHLE – More Than a Jubilee

Partnering with World Vision for a Sustainable Future

In 2025, MÜHLE celebrates its 80th anniversary. Since its founding in 1945 by Otto Johannes Müller in Stützengrün, in the Ore Mountains, our family business has continually evolved. What began as the production of shaving brushes in a washhouse has grown into a globally recognized brand for wet shaving. The journey was not always easy, but it has been worthwhile.

To this day, we continue manufacturing at our historically developed site, surrounded by a beautiful landscape. In our manufactory, we consciously focus on tradition, craftsmanship in the truest sense, timeless design, and measured innovation. This also includes the mindful use of resources and a commitment to a sustainable corporate philosophy.

What Is Good Can Be Made Better

For this special anniversary, we not only want to reflect on our history but also give back to the community and contribute to a sustainable future. For years, MÜHLE has supported social projects and aid organizations, including Bread for the World, the Albert Schweitzer Children's Village in Saxony, Doctors Without Borders, and the Erlabrunn Hospice.

This year, in collaboration with the children's aid organisation World Vision, we are taking it a step further. Together, we support a project for the sustainable reforestation of over 2 million hectares of land in Uganda.

Supporting World Vision is also a personal concern

"Many years ago, I took on sponsorship for a child with World Vision. This personal connection has repeatedly shown me how valuable the work of this organisation is. Beyond providing food and water, World Vision's work improves the daily lives of children and their families through education and healthcare. I am particularly impressed by the holistic approach—this truly improves development opportunities for people in the long term."

Andreas Müller, Managing Director of MÜHLE

Restoring Uganda's Communities with Greenery

Uganda is one of the African countries most affected by climate change. Approximately 47% of its soil is severely or very severely degraded, while an average of 2.6% of forest area is lost each year—one of the highest deforestation rates worldwide. Droughts, floods, and other natural disasters exacerbate the situation, trapping many families in a cycle of poverty. Failed harvests prevent them from generating income, leaving them without enough food to eat. This dwindling livelihood particularly deprives children of future opportunities.

The goal is to reforest over 2 million hectares of land in the long term using the FMNR (Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration) method. This approach utilizes the still-existing underground root systems of felled trees, encouraging them to sprout anew. The young shoots are then protected and selectively pruned, allowing them to grow into strong, mature trees. Through this process, local farmers can take the natural regeneration of fields and forests into their own hands. Collectively, they can restore their environment, make it more climate-resilient, and increase agricultural yields—ensuring a healthier future and better opportunities for their children.

Decades of Commitment to the Vulnerable – That's why World Vision

World Vision is an international children's aid organisation that has been fighting against injustice and poverty for over 70 years. The organisation operates in around 100 countries and, in 2023 alone, was able to support more than 18 million people with humanitarian aid programmes. World Vision helps children survive crises and disasters and supports families in becoming self-sufficient in the long term.
